MedicAlert Connect Protect service will help Shelburne Police Service reunite lost, wandering and vulnerable individuals with their families

Shelburne, June 15, 2019 – Shelburne Police Service is partnering with MedicAlert Foundation Canada to better help officers quickly locate lost or missing vulnerable individuals, such as those living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive brain injuries so that they can be quickly and safely returned to their loved ones.

MedicAlert Connect Protect gives police officers 24-hour access to a registered subscriber’s photo, identifying information, past wandering history and other medical information through the MedicAlert identification and associated database.

This information will help officers search more efficiently, increasing the chances that those who go missing are reunited with their loved ones sooner.  Officers called to an emergency involving a MedicAlert subscriber will have access to vital information which could save a life.

“The Shelburne Police Service is very pleased to enter into this partnership with MedicAlert.  This enhances our member’s response to our vulnerable residents and furthers our ability to protect them.” says Shelburne Police Chief Kent Moore.

“Our database is a vital link between first responders and the community when faster, informed action makes all the difference and we are honoured to assist police services across the country,” said MedicAlert Foundation Canada CEO Françoise Faverjon-Fortin.

MedicAlert will be holding a registration session on June 15, 2019 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at William St and Main St E, at the Shelburne Street Festival immediately following the media launch of MedicAlert Connect Protect at 10am. Members of the public are urged to learn more and sign up themselves or a loved one.
