Leaving a legacy gift in your Will is a lasting statement of your values, your generosity and your commitment to MedicAlert’s mission.
There are several ways that you can leave a legacy. A bequest is the most common type of planned gift and can be a specific dollar amount or particular asset, a percentage of your estate or the remaining balance of your estate after you’ve provided for loved ones. Other common legacy gifts include naming MedicAlert as a beneficiary on your life insurance policy or Registered Retirement Saving Plan (RRSP). In every case, your gift transfers to MedicAlert only after you no longer need it.
When planning your Will, discuss your goals with your lawyer and financial advisor if you have one. It is also important to make your philanthropic wishes known to your family and loved ones in advance.
