|We’re happy to announce that in July, MedicAlert partnered with the municipal police agencies in Prince Edward Island to bring MedicAlert Connect Protect to their respective communities. The service is now accessible to municipal police in Charlottetown, Kensington and Summerside.
MedicAlert Connect Protect gives emergency responders 24/7 direct access, through their dispatcher, to critical intelligence including a subscriber’s photo, identity, past wandering history, behavioural management techniques (such as anxiety triggers and de-escalation techniques) and other vital emergency information through a registered subscriber’s MedicAlert ID.
“Information is a key component to policing,” says Charlottetown Police Services Chief Paul Smith. “Forging this partnership will give our frontline officers quick database access to important information that will enable us to assist vulnerable persons and provide positive outcomes.”
The details in a subscriber’s MedicAlert profile allow police to bring a person safely home more quickly, and can help officers provide compassionate care based on an individual’s needs. If you know someone who will benefit from MedicAlert, please recommend them to sign up today.
At MedicAlert, our goal is simple: to introduce this critical service across Canada. If MedicAlert Connect Protect is not yet in your community, please ask your local police to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
